Opal Gibson –brings over 18 years of experience in the field of hospitality sales, marketing and revenue management at the very senior executive level.  She was recruited by Starwood Hotels right out of graduate school and has been working in the industry ever since.  She has held a myriad of positions such as Director of Revenue Management; Director of Leisure Sales; Director of Sales and Marketing and Director of Business Development, both with the big Brand, Independent and also smaller boutique hotels and resorts. 

As Principal and Founder of Hotel Marketing Strategist she brings her experience from the world of city center big brand Corporate Hotels, to the world of big Brand Resorts, luxury resorts, condo hotels, off-shore hotels and resorts and also her experience of being involved with over 4 major hotel openings both in the US and with off-shore resort properties.  

She has a unique view of the industry and skill set as she has overseen both the revenue management process and teams in addition to the entire sales and marketing process and teams of hotels both large and small.  Her creativity coupled with her analytic skills gives her a unique vantage point of being able to use data to enhance strategic marketing decisions and to simultaneously convert these analytics into Strategic actions that increase hotel revenue.

Opal applies her years of Big Brand hospitality experience to help Independent and Boutique hotels succeed.  The approach is to offer each client an individually distinct customized solution by offering a specialized Business Plan and tracking ROI, Opal ensures that the ideal target is identified and reached via a myriad of proven techniques.

She has been an integral part of several high profile big Brand and non-branded resorts both here in the US and off-shore and her continued momentum has aided in the successful launch of several landmark properties.  She has also been responsible for maintaining award-winning hotels high profile while simultaneously increasing its market share.  Her accomplishments and experience within the industry will be a valuable asset for not only the resort community and corporate city center hotels but smaller boutique hotels, bed and breakfast properties and resort villas. 

Opal earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Economics and Management from the University of West Indies and an MBA in Marketing and Advertising from Baruch College - Zicklin School of Business.  Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business is a Top 5 Business Program in New York State.  The Jamaican-born executive enjoys horseback riding and is a (RAD) Royal Academy of Dance trained dancer.
