Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort Names Opal Gibson
as Director of Sales and Marketing
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., August 3, 2007– The new Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, one of the area’s first large-scale, luxury oceanfront resorts, has announced Opal Gibson as director of sales and marketing. Most recently, Gibson held the position of Director of Business Development for Hilton Caribbean’s British Colonial Hilton Nassau in the Bahamas.“Opal Gibson will be an integral part of Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort as our team members continue the momentum that has marked the successful launch of this landmark property,” states General Manager Andreas Ioannou. “Her accomplishments and experience with the Hilton brand will be a valuable asset for our resort and the entire Fort Lauderdale community.”
During her five-year tenure with Hilton Caribbean’s British Colonial Hilton, the ten-year hospitality veteran was responsible for maintaining the award-winning hotel’s high profile and increasing its market share. Previously, Opal held the director of revenue management position for Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort and sales systems analyst for Sheraton Hotels of New York.
Opal has earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in economics and management from the University of West Indies and an MBA in marketing and advertising from the City University of New York. The Jamaican-born executive enjoys horseback riding and is a Royal Academy of Dance trained dancer.
